Airlines flying to The Islands of Tahiti arrive at Faa’a International Airport (PPT), located a few miles from Papeete on the main island of Tahiti. Passengers continuing to Bora Bora, Moorea and other inter island destinations will also fly from Faa’a International Airport.

The airport is close and convenient to all the major hotels, resorts and attractions on Tahiti, including the Papeete Market. Rental cars, taxis, buses and other ground transportation options are available at the airport. As the primary port of entry for travelers to The Islands of Tahiti, Faa’a International Airport is home to a major Customs Office. When you arrive in French Polynesia, you must declare all of your belongings and pay any applicable duties and taxes. The high volume of international visitors has streamlined customs and declarations at the airport.

While planning your Tahiti flight, keep in mind that many of the airport’s services are not available 24-hours a day. 

Several restaurants, snack bars and bars are available throughout the airport and operate on varying schedules. While there are not any 24-hour options, the earliest opens at 4:30 am.  

The airport features several shopping options. Travelers will find shops that sell souvenirs, travel accessories, Tahitian black pearl jewelry and local products, including Monoi, textiles, ukuleles and vanilla. International travelers will find a duty-free store with tobacco, perfumes, alcohol, cosmetics, souvenirs, Tahitian arts and crafts and snacks.

Located near the main terminal, the Fare Hei marketplace continues the French Polynesian tradition of offering fragrant flower necklaces to welcome travelers and shell necklaces as a souvenir for travelers leaving The Islands of Tahiti.

Air Tahiti Nui is the only airline that offers a lounge for waiting for international business class passengers. Air conditioning, beverages, showers and WiFi are all available in the dedicated lounge. 

Other airport services include free and premium Wi-Fi, mobile device charging stations, VIP prestigious welcomes, banking, currency exchange, postal services, luggage storage, lockers, and showers.
